COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - One pint of blood can save a life that simple donation saved a West Michigan woman and inspired her daughter to pay it forward by organizing her own blood drives.

Get ready for the Coopersville Community Expo

The Coopersville Community Expo is coming up on Saturday, March 27th from 9am to 1pm at Coopersville Middle School.

The expo has three goals:

  • Spotlight area businesses, organizations, churches, municipalities and schools to other businesses and members of the public.
  • Increase community awareness about products and services sold or manufactured in our community.
  • Provide exhibitors an opportunity to increase exposure to prospective customers, develop sales, sales leads and customer contacts.

The expo is free to the public and exhibitors are encouraged to provide "give-aways" to the public.  In fact, expo provides bags for people to hold all the items they collect.

The expo is sponsored by the Coopersville Area Chamber of Commerce.

24th Annual Wearin' of the Green Saint Patrick's Day Parade this Thursday

CONKLIN, Mich. - St. Patrick's Day is almost upon us and with it comes the annual Wearin' of the Green parade in downtown Conklin.

The parade will be led by this years Grand Marshall, Mr. Reg Crowe, and include the Grand Rapids Central HS marching band, Fenian's marching band and many others.

This year marks the 24th year that the parade has marched down the streets of Conklin.

Truck bursts into flames on I-96

COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - A truck driver escaped major injuries when his semi-truck burst into flames on I-96 Thursday morning.

The truck was traveling eastbound on I-96 just west of Coopersville at about 5:00am when the fire broke out.  The driver was taken to the hospital with minor burns to his hands.

There were no other injuries.  There is no word on what started the fire.

Next Coopersville Farm Museum "Jam Night" to be held Tuesday, March 15

COOPERSVILLE, Mich. - Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, the Coopersville Farm Museum hosts "Jam Night" from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

As the Farm Museum website says, "Music is a big part of rural life."

The event attracts acoustic musicians of all experience levels - beginner to professional.
