HOLLAND, Mich.—A rock and roll nutrition show has arrived in West Michigan.

“Jump with Jill” kicked off a series of performances at five area schools Monday, with a live show at Thomas Jefferson School in Holland.  It’s one of five schools that won a statewide contest, thanks to the generosity of Michigan’s dairy farmers and milk processors and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan as part of their Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

“Dairy is one of easiest and richest ways that kids can get the calcium they need for strong bones,” says Amy Viselli with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. “Jump with Jill has serious fun with a serious message. They even dress up a milk jug as a rapper named Calcium.”

Each winning school gets a live performance of “Jump with Jill”, as well as educational materials and a copy of the production’s dance video, which was produced in Jenison and released during National School Breakfast Week March 3-7.

The show will visit Nelson Elementary School in Muskegon Tuesday, before heading to Coopersville South Elementary in Coopersville and East Oakview Elementary in Plainfield Township on May 1.  “ Jump with Jill” will wrap up its tour in West Michigan Friday, with a final performance at Palmer Elementary in Grand Rapids.

Other winners include Northeastern Elementary in Kalamazoo Township, Orchard View Elementary in Grand Rapids and Woods Lake Elementary Magnet School of the Arts in Kalamazoo.  To see the full list, click here.

“Jump with Jill” features Holland native Devon Watson as “DJ”, who can be seen as Mr. Desayuno in the music video. Watson shaved his head for the role.  The video also features Detroit native Hailey McDonell as “Jill”.
