New sign ordinance approved for Coopersville

COOPERSVILLE, Mich.--  A new sign ordinance will soon take effect in Coopersville.

During its regular meeting September 9, the city council unanimously approved an updated sign ordinance, pending one amendment.  Officials must alter the regulations for real estate signs, allowing larger dimensions of up to eight square feet and 5.5 feet in height.

The final amended sign ordinance will be published September 14.  It will take effect September 24.  People who violate the ordinance will receive a notice, giving them 10 to 15 days to comply; after that, they may be issued a ticket.
