New plans for business previously destroyed by fire

POLKTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.-- A Coopersville area business destroyed by fire nearly four years ago has new plans.

DeVries Meats Inc. detailed plans for an addition during the Polkton Township Planning Commission meeting last month. Very few details are listed in the township agenda and an employee did not want to comment on the proposal Wednesday.

In February 2010, a fire gutted DeVries Meats, located at 17685 80th Street.  No employees were injured, valuable inventory was saved, and their stock of nearly 100 hogs in a nearby barn were all rescued. The owner's brother, Mike DeVries, said then that the business would go on.

WZZM 13 has a contacted township officials about the company's new proposal and will provide more information as it becomes available.
