My Town Coopersville: City to consider stepping up security after DPW thefts | Crime
COOPERSVILLE, Mich.—Coopersville city council members Monday night will consider adding security gates around the Department of Public Works, after another break-in at the site.
City Manager Steven Patrick says someone recently stole more than $1,000 worth of parts for guard rails that were to be installed at the waste water treatment plant. He says the DPW garage has been broken into in the past; thieves then took equipment worth more than $5,000.
Patrick is calling on the Coopersville city council to consider studying and eventually constructing gates on the facility’s north and south ends to deter thieves and prevent crimes that cost taxpayers money.
