Candlelight Snowshoeing on Valentines Day

Make plans to spend time with your significant other on Valentine’s Day!

Howard Christiansen Nature Center located at 16190 Red Pine Drive in Kent City is offering three Candlelight Snowshoe guided excursion through their scenic trails on Valentine’s Day. You can choose 6:30pm, 7:30pm or 9:00pm.

The excursion includes snowshoe and is a one mile hike through candle lit trails with the chance to warm up by the fire and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. It’s a romantic evening you won’t want to miss.

Member Cost: $8.00 per couple and Non-members are $15.00 per couple.

The Grand Haven, Spring Lake & Ferrysburg Chamber of Commerce invite residents & visitors to take part in this sand art building activity this Saturday.

After 2 hours of sand creating, individuals, teams & families will be judged and awarded prizes on their unique presentation.

Get your sand sculpture plans & tools in order.The Grand Haven City Beach is the place to be from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, August 13.

Great Lakes Kite Festival Returns

The State Park in Grand Haven comes to life with incredible kite performances this weekend. Don’t miss the fun!

For the 28th year, the world’s best kite flyers - individuals, pairs & teams will be performing continuously on Saturday, May 21 from 10am – 5pm & Sunday, May 22 from 11am – 5pm.

Kite enthusiast and their families are invited to experience different size kites with amazing capabilities controlled by professional kite handlers. There will also be an Open Flying Field to fly your own kite.

Eco Stewardship Work Day on Saturday

Eco Stewardship Work Day on Saturday

The community has the opportunity to volunteer to spruce up Blandford Nature Center this coming Saturday.

Volunteers will be involved in working on Saturday, May 21 from 9:00am – 12:30pm on several sections of the 143-acres site through trail maintenance, habitat restoration, removal of invasive species and stream clean up. This also gives volunteers the chance to become educated with plants on their own property.

Blandford Nature Center is located at 1715 Hillburn Avenue in Grand Rapids, 49504.

This program is FREE but wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes to work off the trails.

Holy Spirit Parish Community Festival, September 19th & 20th

Holy Spirit Parish at 2230 Lake Michigan Dr. NW in Grand Rapids, MI is once again holding their Community Festival on Saturday & Sunday, September 19 & 20. Saturday hours are 7 – 10pm and Sunday is 12 Noon until 6pm. Everyone is welcome at this festival.

Saturday evening will feature a Euchre Tournament with a $10 entrance fee to be paid before the tournament begins. Many raffles held between games at no extra charge. 1st & 2nd place prize money payout to be determined by the number of players. Del Shannon Days Celebration this Week

The 25th Annual Summerfest Celebration featuring Del Shannon Days in Coopersville, MI unofficially started on Saturday, August 1st with “Quilts and their Stories” Show. There are more than 140 different quilts to view on display. Officially the festival was renamed the “Del Shannon Days” in 2014.

Antique tractors go on display at the Farm Museum on Tuesday, August 4th. Del Shannon Days officially kicks off from 4 – 8pm Wednesday, the 5th with “Kids Fest,” held at the corner of Main & Mason St.  The Teddy Bear Parade starts at 5pm. There will be plenty of different games and events for children throughout the celebration.

Friday Night, the 7th, features the Annual “Car Cruise” starting at 6pm throughout the Village ending at Keyser Manufacturing for the after-cruise party. Saturday, the 8th will feature more than 600 show cars, trucks and motorcycles. The show runs all day beginning at 7am.
