COOPERSVILLE, Mich.—A holiday tradition is chugging through Coopersville again.

The Coopersville and Marne Railway’s Santa train runs every weekend through Dec. 21.  Families who board the train will be greeted by elves, who will escort children to sit with Santa.  Riders can also listen to a reading of “The Polar Express,” written by Grand Rapids native Chris Van Allsburg.  Every children on board will also receive a gift.

Each vintage passenger car on the Santa train is heated.  The Santa train’s departure schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, Dec. 6 – 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 7 – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 13 – 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 14 – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Saturday Dec. 20 – 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 21 – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Tickets are $15.50 for adults, $14.50 for seniors, $13.50 for children ages 2-12 and free for children under age 2.  For more information, visit the railway’s website.
