Coopersville Kindergarten/Young Fives Programming for 2012-2013 | Families
From: http://coopersvillebroncos.org
Coopersville Area Public Schools enthusiastically announces that kindergarten will become all-day/every day beginning in the fall of 2012! CAPS understands that early childhood/kindergarten is essential for establishing a quality foundation for life-long educational success. Research provides evidence that an allday/ every day program will provide the following academic and social/emotional benefits:
- more time devoted to the core curriculum
- flexibility to provide additional creativity through art, music, and structured play
- greater reading growth
- greater opportunity to enhance social skills and independent learning
- better prepares students for first grade
In order to meet the needs of all students, Young Fives (developmental kindergarten) will continue to be offered primarily for children with late fall birthdays.
Kindergarten Round Up will be held on Tuesday, March 20 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. This event is designed to provide information on kindergarten programming options and will take place at Centerstage (Coopersville High School Performing Arts Center). Please bring your child's immunization record, certified birth certificate from the county and vision & hearing test results. Please note that your child must be 5 years old by December 1, 2012 to enroll in our Kindergarten/Young Fives program. Please call 616.997.3300 or e-mail jhuesing@coopersville.k12.mi.us to have a registration form mailed to you.
Coopersville Area Public Schools looks forward to partnering with you as we inspire all students to embrace a life-long love of learning, achieve their goals, and be compassionate citizens who contribute to the global community.
