Three catholic schools consolidated under new name

The Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids is virtually consolidating three satellite campuses.

On July 1, St. Catherine in Ravenna, St. Joseph in Conklin and St. Michael in Coopersville will be combined to form Divine Providence Academy.  All three schools began operating under the same blended learning model, called the WINGS model, after facing potential cuts in July 2010.

Kendra DeYoung will be principal and director of the new academy, which will continue to operate under the WINGS model, which allowed the Diocese to consolidate its administration and services.  The superintendent of catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids says enrollment has also increased.

A special mass and event will take place at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year to celebrate the new Divine Providence Academy.
