Tuesday May 8 is a school election. On the ballot is a five year renewal of our 18-mil non-homestead property tax. The 18-mil renewal will not increase, nor will it decrease tax rates on your primary homestead, but failure to renew it will mean a loss of approximately 1.2 million dollars to our district. Please remember to vote tomorrow!

Coopersville Area Public Schools May 8, 2012 Election Frequently Asked Questions

What am I being asked to consider?
The district is asking for a 5-year renewal of the district’s 18-mil non-homestead property tax rate.

What does this do to the property taxes on my home?
Nothing. Homes will not see any increase nor any decrease in their property tax rate regardless of whether the millage renewal request passes or fails. The renewal affects only non-homestead property such as second homes, and businesses.

Why is this on the ballot?
