Schools with Unique and Flexible Learning Models Host Information Sessions

The new school year has arrived and some families may still be undecided on the best education option for their child. To ensure your child does not miss one vital day of school, Michigan’s leading virtual and blended learning schools – Michigan Connections Academy, Great Lakes Cyber Academy and Nexus Academy’s three campuses in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Royal Oak – continue to host free information sessions and events.

Upcoming events, both in-person and online, give families an inside look at how virtual and blended learning works, meet teachers and familiarize themselves with the schools’ award-winning curriculum.

“This school has been a blessing for our family,” said Lola Lind, whose child attends Great Lakes Cyber Academy (GLCA), a full-time virtual school. “Due to some family changes, my daughter wanted to spend as much time at home as possible. GLCA has allowed her to do that without falling behind on schoolwork. Additionally, someone from the school is always available if she has a question.”

Due to limited space, enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. For a list of information sessions and open house events taking place in the coming months, please visit:

Online and blended learning schools continue to grow in Michigan. During the 2012-2013 school year, 7,850 Michigan students were enrolled in an online or blended learning school. This reflects a 94 percent growth from the 2011-2012 school year due to various enrollment caps being lifted.
