Kickin' Cancer Event has Great Turnout

Kickin' Cancer Event has Great Turnout

COOPERSVILLE MI ~ There was a great turnout for the "Kickin' Cancer" event at the last Soccer Game.

Coopersville Middle School student and soccer player Nathan Syrek has bone cancer in his leg. The Coopersville Soccer Club has teamed with the Coopersville High School Soccer Program to create a fundraiser called Kickin’ Cancer.

T-shirts and Team Nathan wristband/bracelets were sold. All proceeds went to the Syrek family whose son Nathan Syrek has recently undergone surgery to remove an osteosarcoma from his leg and will begin many weeks of chemotherapy. The Syrek’s will use the money to assist in paying for medical bills, and lost wages with any remaining funds to be donated to the Helen DeVos Children’s Oncology Department.

The same schedule of events will remain with 4-cylinders, bombers, street stocks, and UMP Modifieds. We are also adding a UMP dirt late model feature to this show.

Gates will open on Friday at 4pm, practice at 5:30 and racing action will roll off at 7:00pm.

If you have your ticket from Friday September 21st rain out date that is good for admission. If you bring your ticket stub from 9/22 you will get $5.00 off admission. We will honor all 2-3 day pit passes from 9/20 - 9/22 events for pit entry. We still have additional tickets left as well.

MARNE, MI – Sept. 19, 2012 –SCOUTING BERLIN: Every entrant in this weekend’s Keyser Manufacturing ‘Down & Dirty 100’ Presented by NAPA Auto Parts at Berlin Raceway will have the same level of knowledge about the track – which is to say, none at all.

Berlin has, of course, operated as a 7/16th-mile asphalt oval since 1966. But the renowned Wolverine State speedway has been covered with more than 300 truckloads of clay for a historic event headlined by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, setting up a unique situation in which no one starts with an advantage.

Berlin Raceway’s transformation from an asphalt track to a dirt-covered showplace for one spectacular racing weekend is complete.

More than 300 truckloads of clay now cover the 7/16th-mile oval in advance of the Keyser Manufacturing ‘Down & Dirty 100’ Presented by NAPA Auto Parts, a historic $20,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model Series event on Sept. 21-22 that will return the venerable Wolverine State facility to its dirt-track roots.

“Everything has come along great,” said Berlin Raceway general manager Mike Bursley, who co-promotes the venerable speedway with Kurt Dietrich under the DBD Ventures banner. “We’ve had great weather the last couple days to let us get the dirt down without any problems and now it’s just a matter of getting the surface worked in and ready for racing.”
